The 5 train

The 5 train is the Lexington Avenue Express. It runs from Dyre Avenue in the Bronx and joins the 2 White Plains Road line at East 180th Street. It then branches off that line to join the 4 to go along the Lexington Avenue Line in Manhattan. It then goes to Brooklyn via the Eastern Parkway Line (running fully express) and later joining the 2 along the Nostrand Avenue Line to Flatbush Avenue. This service pattern is on weekdays.

On weekends, however it terminates in Bowling Green, the last stop in Manhattan and does not go into Brooklyn.

Late nights, it is a shuttle between Dyre Avenue and East 180th Street.

Here are some photos, although using the 5 line's cars, this is signed as a 2.
